For nearly 50 years, and on behalf of America\u2019s egg farmers, the American Egg Board has proudly presented the First Lady\u2019s Commemorative Egg\u2014a cherished springtime tradition that began in 1977 with a gift to First Daughter Amy Carter. Today, the tradition continues with the presentation of a handcrafted egg to the First Lady of the United States during the White House Easter Egg Roll, held in the Diplomatic Reception Room.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

Each Commemorative Egg is a real chicken egg\u2014typically extra-large or jumbo\u2014expertly transformed by a specialized egg artist, often a member of the International Egg Art Guild. These intricate works of art may become part of the First Lady\u2019s personal collection or be housed in a presidential library, preserved by the National Archives and Records Administration.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
